The location of Watson Gordon's original oil painting is not apparent from a search on the internet, and is not recorded on ArtUK, however at the time the print was published the portrait hung in the County Hall in Caithness.
Watson Gordon exhibited the portrait at the RSA AX 1832 (cat.201) where it is described as a Presentation Portrait.
An early publication from Hill from his original premises at 50 Princes Street, from where he operated from c.1828 until his removal to no.76 in 1841
The BM holds an impression, acc. no.2010,7081.4845.
