Rand was awarded the commission for two pieces of artwork to decorate the new reception area and linking corridor in the Beacon Centre, a specialist oncology and haemaeotology unit at Musgrove Park Hospital, c.2008. The present pieces are designs towards a central pillar in the main reception area. They were not used in the final solution for this site, which takes the form of staved verticals bound around the structural support.
