In the Western Isles
Bliss first visited the island of Barra in 1926, returning for subsequent visits. The specific setting here is probably the island's 'capital' Castlebay viewed from a less familiar viewpoint, without the distinctive church. He wrote a lengthy article of his reminiscences of that first trip which was published in The Scotsman newspaper on 1956-08-18 under the title 'Barra Thirty Years Ago.'
