the image was published as an illustration to Marcus Tullius Cicero's book Officia M.T.C., published by Heinrich Steiner, Augsburg, Germany, 1531. It appeared at the foot of verso page 162 in section LXXIIII. The publication contained 103 woodcut illustrations by Weiditz, Hans Burgkmair I, and Albrecht Durer. A complete copy of the volume is in the Collections of the National Gallery of Art, Washington, USA (acc. no. 2011.80.1).
A further copy, formerly in the collection of the English artist and designer William Morris is now in the Wellcome Library in London (acc. no. EPB / D 1474/D) and is digitally available at https://archive.org/details/hin-wel-all-00000221-001/page/n174/mode/1up.
At 2022-06-08 a third copy was on sale on the internet via Heritage Book Shop, Beverly Hills, USA at $8,500 (£6,980).
