Man Standing

Cameron was the son of Hugh Cameron RSA. He was a student at the RSA Life School between 1904 and 1908. The RSA Council Minutes of 1904-03-31 record; “Life School applications by J J Waterstone and H A Cameron along with specimens of their work were submitted. After consideration, the applicants were admitted under the usual proviso as to making test drawings from the cast in the Life Room.” Council Minutes 1904-04-19 record; “Test drawings submitted by H A Cameron and J J Waterstone were submitted, approved, and permission given to both students to study from the Life.” Cameron is recorded in the RSA Annual Report, 1908 as having won The Carnegie Scholarship and the halmers-Jervise Prize for the best Drawing from the Life; - possibly the present work. The Annual Report lists no prizewinners for 1907 however the RSA Council Minute of 1907-11-21 records them, with Cameron named as winner of the Chalmers Bursary. In the Council Minutes of 1905-11-03 Cameron was listed as one of 4 students in the Life School who were commended for their work.
During his time the Visitors to the Life School were; J C Noble; W Grant Stevenson; Alexander I Roche and Henry W Kerr (1904-05); J C Noble; W Grant Stevenson; E A Walton and Henry W Kerr (1905-06); J C Noble; W Grant Stevenson; E A Walton and Robert Burns (1906-07); and J C Noble; W Grant Stevenson; E A Walton and Robert Burns (1907-08).
