Hutcheson, Tom
1922 – 1999
A painting graduate from GSA, Hutcheson undertook further training at Schools in England and the United States of America.
From 1950-64 he was employed as a school teacher at secondary schools in Glasgow.
He took voluntary redundancy from his post as Head of the Art Department at Jordanhill College of Education to concentrate full time on painting in 1982. He had joined the staff there in 1964 as a lecturer and was appointed to the Head role in 1977.
Hutcheson was elected a Member of the Glasgow Group in 1977 but had been an invited artist with the group in the early 1960s.
