Robertson, Richard Ross, RSA

1914 – 2007

The son of a United Free Church Missionary of the same name of Sandhaven, Pitsligo and Catherine Jane Macallan or Robertson his wife, Richard Ross Robertson was born at 24 Bedford Road, Aberdeen. He trained at Glasgow School of Art between 1933 and 1934 and at Gray's School of Art, Aberdeen from 1946 until his retirement in 1979. His sculptures tend to marry figurative and abstract forms and he works largely in wood and stone. He has exhibited at the RSA since 1938, he became an Associate Member of the RSA in 1969 and an Academician in 1977.
