Henry, William
1903 – 1993
The son of Angus Henry, Master Butcher, and Anne Craig, he studied at Glasgow School of Art and qualified as an art teacher, spending his career in Motherwell, latterly as Head of Department at Dalziel High School.
A keen amateur theatric, he excelled at stage management and scenery design and was married to the stage and radio actor Maud Risdon (1905-95). His first major experience in this field was acting as Prop Manager for the Craigmillar Pageant shortly after his graduation. He was with Benson's Players during the 1920s during which time he met his future wife.
He played the part of Paterson in the premier of James Bridie's play, The Anatomist in 1930, in which Maud Risdon also starred.
He was a founding member of the Hamilton Art Society of which he served for a period as President.
His son-in-law was Willie Rodger RSA.
