Cosgrove, James [Jimmy]

After joining the Army in 1955 as a cartographic draughtsman, Cosgrove was a telecommunications officer for a decade, before enrolling as student at GSA where he specialised in screenprinting. After graduating Cosgrove joined GSA as a member of staff originally under Robert Stewart in the Department of Printed Textiles. At GSA his positions included Lecturer in Design (Textile Design) from 1973-1980, and Senior Lecturer in Charge of Printed Textiles from 1980-1982, before being appointed Deputy Director of The Glasgow School of Art. He retired from academic life in 1999.
