Daniell, William
1769 – 1837
Nephew of the topographical artist Thomas Daniell whom he accompanied whilst a sixteen year old teenager on his voyage to India and collaborated with him on his ambitious volume Oriental Scenery. The pair returned to England in 1794 and set up home together to work on the illustrated volume of their Indian travels. In 1813 William set off on a tour of The Coasts of Great Britain and which was to result in his greatest work. Originally intended to be undertaken entirely by sea, the journey was instead made mostly from the land.
