Thomson, David
d. 1815
Scottish born artist and minor poet. He accompanied his brother George Thomson "the friend of Burns" (1757-1851) on a tour of Wales in 1806 and two of the views he sketched were engraved for his brother's collection of Welsh Airs. As an artist he exhibited at the Royal Academy in 1807 and died in London in 1815. The engraver Paton Thomson was probably related, possibly another brother. Assistant-Commissary-General William Thomson-Sinclair (1790-1876) was his nephew.
