Schiavonetti, Luigi
1765 – 1810
Stipple engraver; closely associated with his brother, Niccolo Schiavonetti (q.v.), with whom he published as Messrs. Schiavonetti, along with J. Schiavonetti (q.v., c.1801). b.Bassano and worked for the Remondini; to London 1787 to work for Bartolozzi, followed by his brother in 1790. Set up a publishing establishment at 12 Michael`s Place, Brompton, London c.1797. Left for Paris in 1803/4 (see Landseer's Lectures on Engraving, p.305), but died in Brompton in London. His obituary in the Gentleman's Magazine for 7 July 1810, p.598, states that he was aged 44. A long obituary by R.H.Cromek is on pp.662-5. (info from BM website)
