1962 – 2022
"Graeme Todd RSA was born in Glasgow in 1962 and studied at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art (1979-1985). He moved to Edinburgh in 1989 to become the John Florent Stone Scholar at Edinburgh College of Art and has worked there as an influential lecturer in painting, working with both Undergraduates and Masters Students since 1991. He has exhibited extensively and has been included in several key group shows of new Scottish art such as Scatter, Third Eye Centre, Glasgow; The Persistence of Painting, CCA , Glasgow; Here and Now, DCA; Open Country, Musee Cantonal des Beaux–Arts de Lausanne, and A Parliament of Lines, City Art Centre, Pier Art Centre and RMIT, Melbourne. His work is held in several important collections including the Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art; Kunsthaus, Zurich and Migros Museum, Zurich. Since 2007 he has also been Co-Director of Polarcap, an independent organization based in Dunbar which is committed to curating art projects and exhibitions mostly in its town venues. Exhibitions include You Do Voodoo, 2007; Eskimo, 2008, Edinburgh Art Festival; and Steep Trail – an ongoing project since 2012 which examines the contemporary legacy of John Muir by multidisciplinary discussion and exhibitions in partnership with FCAC, ESW and galleries in Shanghai and Beijing." He died after a long illness on 2022-03-17
