McKay, John Ross, RSA

1884 – 1962

The son of William McKay, Joiner and his wife, John Ross McKay studied at the Edinburgh School of Applied Art and worked initially in the practice of Sir Robert Lorimer, RSA. From 1942 he was part of the Dick Peddie & Walker Todd practice which from 1955 was known as Dick Peddie & McKay. He was involved in industrial work during the Second World War and factory design after the war. He exhibited at the RSA from 1925 until 1954. He became an Associate Member of the RSA in 1945 and an Academician in 1954.
