Begg, John, FRIBA
1866 – 1937
John Begg trained under H.J. Blanc and worked in London with Alfred Waterhouse. He was a renowned draughtsman and worked with Lorimer on his Earlshall designs . He worked for a time in South Africa and in India. In circa 1922 he became Head of the School of Architecture at Edinburgh College of Art. In 1921 he had entered into partnership with Lorne Campbell. Sir Robert Lorimer's son Hew Lorimer RSA initially trained as an architect under Begg before pursuing his sculpture studies after the death of his father.
