Falconer, Agnes Trotter
1883 – 1969
Born in Edinburgh, Falconer exhibited at the RSA from 1917 to 1967 inconsistently from different Edinburgh addresses; 45 Frederick Street (1917-1951); 15 Moston Terrace, Newington (1953) and finally at 2 Ainslie Place (1957-67). Much of her subject matter was landscapes and townscapes, mostly of Scotland, including many with a nautical or maritime theme, and including Edinburgh, Newhaven, Eyemouth, St Monance, Rye and The Norfolk Broads. She exhibited at least one lithograph ('At Anchor, Newhaven' in 1927). Her studio was originally in Frederick Street where she worked alongside Margaret Hislop RSA and had the young future knights William George Gillies RA RSW and William MacTaggart PPRSA RSW as neighbours.
