Hackett, Mark

b. 1967

An Architecture graduate from Queen's, Belfast, Hackett completed his Masters at the Mackintosh School of Architecture, Glasgow School of Art, the artist was the recipient of an RSA John Kinross Travel Scholarship in 1993.

He co-founded Hackett Hall McKnight who won the UK and Ireland Young Architect of the Year Award in 2008. In this practice he completed a number of award winning buildings including the MAC arts centre in Belfast which was awarded the Downes Medal by the Architectural Association of Ireland and was nominated for the European Union Mies van der Rohe award. Hackett wound up his interest in the practice during 2010-11 following a philanthropic award to progress the non profit urban work of Forum for Alternative Belfast.

He founded Hackett Architects in Belfast in 2010 and serves as a Director of City Reparo which is aimed at urban design and regeneration. Hackett Architects specialises in large urban developments as well as Cultural buildings.
