Tarbolton, Harold Ogle, RSA

1869 – 1947

Harold Ogle Tarbolton was educated at Chigwell in Essex and at the Royal Academy from 1892-1895. He worked initially with John Kinross, RSA on a number of mansion house designs and in 1907 he joined the practice of Hay and Henderson before becoming a partner in a firm with Sir Matthew Ochterlony Bart, ARSA in 1933. In addition to his church designs and hydro- electric schemes in Scotland, he also worked in Bermuda. He exhibited at the RSA from 1909 until 1942 also exhibiting as part of the Tarbolton and Ochterlony partnership from 1934 to 1944. He became an Associate Member of the RSA in 1930 and an Academician in 1934. From 1938 - 1947 he was a commissioner for the Royal Fine Art Commission for Scotland.
