Lumsden, Ernest Stephen, RSA
1883 – 1948
Initially studied art at Reading and then in Paris at the Academie Julian. Moved to Edinburgh in 1908 to take up a teaching position at Edinburgh College of Art which he gave up in 1912. Travelled in India with his wife the artist Mabel Royds between 1917-1919. Exhibited at the RSA Annual Exhibtions between 1909 and 1948. He became an Assocaite Member of the RSA in 1923 and an Academician in 1933. In 1925 he published the 'Art of Etching'. and in 1929 he became the President of the Society of Artist Printmakers.
