Houston, John, OBE RSA
1930 – 2008
John Houston studied at Edinburgh College of Art from 1948-1954 and became a lecturer at the college in 1955. He held the post of Deputy Head of the School of Painting and drawing from 1982 until 1989. He was created a Member of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in 1990. He is married to the artist Elizabeth Blackadder, RSA. John Houston has exhibited at the RSA from 1954, he became an Associate Member of the RSA in 1964 and a Royal Scottish Academician in 1972.
