Park, Patric, RSA
1811 – 1855
Park was the third of 6 children born in Glasgow and surroundings to Matthew Park, a stone mason, and his wife Catherine Lang whom he married in 1806, the Park's being descended from a long line of Lanarkshire farmers, Patric's grandfather being the first to try a different line of work, moving to Glasgow as a stone mason. Patric married Robina Roberts Carruthers, daughter of the proprietor of the Inverness Journal at Inverness 1844-10-15. At 1851 census the couple were recorded at 23 York Place, St Andrew's Parish, Edinburgh, with daughter Isabelle Alice Park aged 5 born Glasgow, and sons William Napier Park aged 1 born Edinburgh, and Edward less than 6 months old, born Edinburgh. A further son, Charles Harry Patric Park, was born 1853-12-18, in Greater Manchester. Park's RSA Medals were gifted to the Royal Scottish Academy by this youngest son. Park himself died after assisting a porter at Warrington Railway Station move a large case, which caused a rupture that haemmorhaged and caused his death. He is buried in plot 1140 of Manchester Cemetery.
