Mackintosh, Charles Rennie

1868 – 1928

One of Scotland's leading internationally recognised architects and designers best known for his iconic Glasgow School of Art building in Glasgow's Renfield Street. The Hunterian Art Gallery in Glasgow holds one of the finest collections of his work and he has been well researched and published in Glasgow by the likes of Thomas Howarth, Roger Billcliffe and Pamela Robertson. In addition to his architectural and design practice Mackintosh was also a very gifted watercolourist. His legacy is preserved through the activities of the CRM Society, founded in 1973 and housed in the only church designed by Mackintosh to be built; Queen's Cross, in Glasgow.
