Miller, John, RSA

1911 – 1975

Educated at Glasgow School of Art from 1936 and then postgraduate studies at Hospitalfield House, Arbroath. in 1941 Became lecturer in Drawing and Painting at Glasgow School of Art in 1944 and remained on the staff until his death. Travelled in France early on in his career but then turned his attention increasingly to depicting Rhu, Dunbartonshire where he lived and other parts of the West coast of Scotland. Also painted on Iona and Arran. Exhibited at the RSA Annual Exhibitions from 1942 until 1974. Miller became an Associate Member of the RSA in 1957 and an Academician in 1966.
