Cadell, Francis Campbell Boileau, RSA

1883 – 1937

Trained at the Academie Julien from 1899 for three years until 1903 and attended the RSA life class. In 1912 he was a founding member of the Society of Eight. Served in the First World War from 1915 until his return to Edinburgh in 1919. Although based in Edinburgh he was to regularly visit Iona which inspired many of his paintings and also the south of France painting at Cassis with his good friend Peploe in 1924. He exhibited at the RSA Annual Exhibitions from 1902 until 1937. He became an Associate Member of the RSA in 1931 and an Academician in 1936. The sculptor Phyllis Bone RSA was a cousin.
