(sourced 2015-02-27: http://www.stephaniemann.org/cv) The following is a transcript of pencil notes handwritten by Sandy Wood, RSA Collection's Curator in conversation with the artist and the original of which is held in the artist's file in hanging folder Scholarships AWARDS in drawer 3 of grey filing cabinet in Index Store: "STEPHANIE MANN:/ Time perfect/ Project commissioned/ Florence - really beautiful space, no pressure/ Ice cream - really/ Really good mental space - for practise to work need the space to think/ shared with Emma Finn and Kate Fahey/ Quite constraining to have such a small space to live/work/ Bequest of experiences I ingested and then later made work/ Learned lot about practise - need time to play/ My brain and the world ar every different places, there are laws in the world/ -/ Film: still life with pink beans/ Indian stall - selected veg she found particularly interesting/ Inspired by these pink beans - she'd never seen them before!/ Music - sample of Casio keyboard auto tunes/ Made film in Venice - month after in Florence/ Silly, contemplative, repetition - not too caught up in narrative/ possibility of accident/ things that visually sit well and are pleasing to the eye/ "Object Orientated Onthology" - book she grappled with in Florence./ -/ Black space down - instead of making a film - would make it into text/ Arno - astounded by glossy black reflections of Arno river/ metaphorical for thought processes."
