Hill, Thomas

The father of Alexander and David Octavius Hill. He was for many years a bookseller, print seller, print publisher, circulating librarian, stationer and auctioneer, operating out of 23 George Street Perth and from May 1824 at South Bridge, Edinburgh. His portrait in oils by D O Hill is in Perth Museum and Art Gallery (ref 4/101) which gives his date of death as 1826. He was responsible fhowever for publishing an engraving of Lord Lynedoch on 1 January 1829, and more probably died in the 1830's.
