Barlow, Thomas Oldham, RA
1824 – 1889
English-born, Barlow was apprenticed for six years to the Manchester engravers Stephenson and Royston before moving to London where he spent the remainder of his life. He early formed a friendship with the painter John Philip RA HRSA and did much to help promote Philips' work as well as that of a range of other prominent artists including Sir J E Millais PPRSA and J M W Turner RA.
