Black, Robert Reid, RSA

b. 1935

Robert Black was raised in Arbroath and studied architecture at Duncan of Jordanstone, Dundee. In 1960 he joined the practice of Baxter, Clark and Paul in Dundee and became a partner in the practice which he reamined with for 35 years until his retirement in 1995. During his career he specialised in housing, especially public housing. He has been a memebr of the Saltire Housing Panel and is Vice President of the Edinburgh Architectural Association. He was awarded an MBE in 1977, became an Associate Member of the RSA in 1989 and an Academician in 2005.
