Gasson, Barry, OBE RSA

1935 – 2022

Trained at Birmingham School of Architecure. Worked for a year in private practice and won an English Speaking Union Fellowship to Columbia University in New York for two years and then worked for a further two years in the practice of Philip Johnson in New York. From 1970-1983 he taught architecture at Cambridge University School of Architecture. He was in partnership with the architect John Meunier until 1974 and appears to have set up his own practice Barry Gasson Architects after this date. He won the design competition for the Burrell Collection Museum in Glasgow in 1971 in collaboration with the architect Brit Andresen. He became an Associate Member of the RSA in 1985 and an Academician in 2005.
