Houston, George, RSA
1869 – 1947
Studied part time at Glasgow School of Art in 1883 and 1884. Began his career as a lithographic artist in Glasgow and produced illustrations for the 'Glasgow Cititzen'. Travelled a good deal visiting Japan in 1911 but concentrated on Scottish landscape, especially Ayrshire and the Western Isles. He exhibited at the RSA Annual Exhibitions from 1898 until 1947. He became an Associate in 1909 and an Academician in 1925.
