Perigal, Arthur, RSA

1816 – 1884

Born in London and moved to Edinburgh at a young age. His father Arthur Perigal Snr was also an artist and had been a pupil of Fuseli at the Royal Academy. Perigal had no official art training and was taught by his father. He specialised in landscape, particularly Scottish landscapes although he also produced some Swiss and Italian scenes, and worked in oils and watercolours. He exhibited at the RSA Annual Exhibitions from 1837 until 1884. He became an Associate Member of the RSA in 1841 and an Academician in 1868. He was also treasurer from 1880-1884.
