Smith, George, RSA
1870 – 1934
Son of a mill owner, educated at George Watson's College. Studied art at Trustees Academy and then at the Academy in Antwerp under Verlat before entering the RSA Life School. Painted pastoral scenes around Stirling and also the Hebrides in addition to painting in Holland, Belgium and later in North Africa. He exhibited at the RSA Annual Exhibitions from 1888 until 1934 becoming an Associate Member in 1908 and an Academician in 1921.
