Addison, Donald Stuart

Born in Glasgow, Addison spent his childhood in India.
Whilst working for J P Coats the Paisley thread manufacturers as a management trainee Addison was posted to Leeds where he enrolled in evening classes at the Art School.
Shortly afterwards back in Scotland and with art as his preferred choice of career he sought admission to Glasgow School of Art but the course was already full and he was put in touch with Ian Fleming at Gray's who took him on. At Gray's he was taught by Malcolm McCoig (four years his junior) and would return to the School where he served in the Graphic Design Department for 17 years.
Addison served as past President of the Aberdeen Artists' Society and a former Director of Peacock Printmakers.
Amongst his best known designs are the logo for Aberdeen Football Club (1972) and the logo for Peacock Printmakers in Aberdeen.
