Born in Haverford, West Wales, Addy established Moxon Architects Ltd. in 2004 and has cultivated the practice into an award-winning, cross-disciplinary architecture firm, building up a reputation for technical achievement, aesthetic versatility and an inquisitive, collaborative design process. For nine years, Addy also ran a Degree Unit in Architectural Design at the Bartlett Faculty of the Built Environment, University College, London. Addy’s students include recipients of the RIBA Undergraduate Medal, the RIBA Dissertation Medal, RIBA Serjeant Award and the UCL Donaldson Medal. Aside from his work in architectural and infrastructure design Addy has a keen interest in product and industrial design. He is the inventor and patent holder for a new type of overhead power transmission mast for railway applications. He is also the designer of the Tiffany/Royal Parks Foundation drinking fountain, which can now be found throughout nine of London’s ten royal parks. Moxon Architects Ltd has its Scottish office in the centre of some of the country's most scenic countryside and are encouraging landscape renewal around the studio through tree and meadow planting along with the redirection of rainwater into a wetland area. They also believe that society should be placing site renewal, both in terms of landscape and existing buildings, at the centre of all design development, and to doing all we can to encourage and support progress at the grand scale through comprehensive electrification and a modal shift in transport, landscape connectivity and native woodland expansion. Outside of his work at Moxon, Addy is Director of an Aberdeenshire-based construction company and sits on the Cairngorms Trust board. Addy is on call 365 days a year as an active member of the Braemar Mountain Rescue Team. Addy was elected RSA in 2020.
