Leitch, William Leighton

1804 – 1883

Painter of landscapes and figure pieces and as a young man was a friend of Sir Daniel MacNee RSA, PPRSA whom he worked alongside decorating snuff boxes. He moved away from Scotland to London and became art tutor to Queen Victoria for twenty years enjoying royal favour. He also exhibited at the RA.
