Malcolm, Ellen, RSA

1923 – 2002

Ellen Malcolm trained at Gray's School of Art, Aberdeen from 1940 -1944 under Robert Sivell and D.M. Sutherland. In 1952 she won the RSA Guthrie Award and in 1973 she won the Cargill Award at the Royal Glasgow Institute. She taught for sixteen years at Aberdeen Academy before deciding to concentrate fully on her career as an artist after her marriage to the artist Gordon Stewart Cameron, RSA , in 1962. In addition to her work as an artist she also served on the Board of Govenors of Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art in the 1970's. She exhibited at the RSA from 1945 until 19 She became an Associate Member of the RSA in 1968 and an Academician in 1976.
