Thomson, John Murray, RSA

1885 – 1974

Educated at Morrison's Academy, Crieff then studied art at RSA School and won the Carnegie Travelling Scholarship. Later went to Paris and studied at the Academie Julian. Specialised in painitng animals and birds in oils and watercolours. Taught Animal drawing and Painting at Edinburgh College of Art from 1933 until 1944. Exhibted at the Royal Academy Exhibitions. Exhibited at the RSA Annual Exhibitions from1912 until 1974. Became an Associate Member of the RSA in 1939 and an Academician in 1957.
