Patrick, James McIntosh, Dr, RSA RE RSW

1907 – 1998

The son of an architect James McIntosh Patrick trained at Glasgow School of Art. In 1926 he travelled to France and Italy and in 1927 he graduated with distinction from GSA. He initially practised as an etcher before concentrating once more on his painting. He became a part time teacher at Dundee College of Art in 1930 and held this post until a few years before his death. After serving during the Second World War he resumed his career as a painter producing landscapes and portraits in oil and watercolour. He exhibited at the RSA Annual Exhibitions from 1926 until 1997. He became an Associate Member of the RSA in 1949 and an Academician in 1957.
