MacGeorge, William Stewart, RSA

1861 – 1931

Moved to Edinburgh in 1880 to study at the Trustees Academy and also attended the RSA Life School. In between this period he studied at Antwerp for three years where E.A. Hornel was a fellow student and whose influence can be detected in much of his work. For a period he spent his summers in Kirkcudbright and winters in Edinburgh and many of his paintings, often featuring children, focus on the Galloway landscape. He exhibited at the RSA Annual Exhibitions from 1881 until 1931. He became an Associate Member of the RSA in 1898 and an Academician in 1910.
