Allan, Archibald Russell Watson, RSA

1878 – 1959

Born in Glasgow and then moved to Stirling. Studied at the Athenaeum School of Art and then the Glasgow School of Art where he later taught under Francis H. Newberry. His work sometimes executed in pastels, focused on the West Highlands and often included animals. Exhibited at the RSA Annual Exhibitions from 1909 until1955. Elected ARSA in 1931 and became an RSA in 1937.
