Edinburgh Printmakers Workshop

b. 1967

Founded in 1967 by American Gallery owner Robert Cox with Philip Reeves (GSA) and Kim Kempshall and Roy Wood (ECA)as a non-profit distributing company and was the very first open-access print studio in Scotland (Glasgow followed in 1972, then Peacock in Aberdeen in 1974 and later Dundee and on a smaller scale Inverness and Dunfermline). From its founding in 1967 until 1975 it operated from premises at 46 Victoria Street, next door to Cox's Gallery. In 1975 it moved to Market Street above the SAC's Fruitmarket Gallery and beside the new 57 Gallery. In 1984 it moved again to its present (2015) location at 23 Union Street.
