Evans, David Pugh, RSA

1942 – 2020

Born in South Wales in 1942, Evans studied at Newport College of Art from 1959-1962 before moving to London to study at the Royal College of Art from 1962-1965. Moving to Scotland he became a lecturer at Edinburgh College of Art in 1965 until his retirement in 1998. David then continued to paint from his Edinburgh studio and began to exhibit at the RSA Annual Exhibitions in 1967. His work which explored his fascination with light, is characterized by photographic realism and muted colours. He became an Associate Member of the RSA in 1974 and an Academician in 1989.
