Williams, John James Francis, RSA
1785 – 1846
Worked initially as a scene painter in England before returning to Scotland in circa 1810 to work in the Edinburgh Theatre. Then devoted his attentions full time to being a landscape painter. He was one of the founding members of the RSA in 1826 who later withdrew but then became an RSA in 1829. He held the office of Treasurer from 1832-1846. He painted in oils and watercolours.
